The purpose of this course is to introduce students to remote sensing in disaster response. What is remote sensing? How does it overlap with disaster response and recovery? By completing this course, students will have an idea for whether they would like to apply for the full BWSI Remote Sensing in Disaster Response course this summer. By the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Understand basic principles of remote sensing
• Understand emergency management and what happens during disasters

This course is organized into exploratory sections. The exploratory sections focus on introducing to you Remote Sensing, Emergency Management, and the growing practice at the intersection of these two disciplines.
