Mike Mcgivern

Lead Instructor

Mike McGivern is a systems engineer at the MITRE Corporation. He holds a Master of Arts degree in Strategic Intelligence from the Defense Intelligence Agency and a Bachelor of Arts in General Engineering from the University of Illinois. Prior to joining MITRE, he served 20 years with the US Air Force as an acquisition program manager developing new systems and advancing ISR technologies in products ranging from satellites to submersibles.  Mike is passionate about STEM education and inspired by the open-source hardware movement and in particular VLSI integrated circuit design.  He is actively promoting these areas of interest and working to shift chip design and manufacturing curriculum earlier in a student’s academic career and making the topics more accessible to K-12 students.
