Omar Mansour
Omar Mansour is a Junior at Columbia University studying Mechanical Engineering. He is an undergraduate researcher at the Hone Group, a lab specializing in novel materials and nano-devices, where he develops optoelectronics and utilizes computer vision to improve the identification of nano-materials. His research interests include Deep Learning, Propulsion, Controls, and Quantum Sensing. He has worked in a research capacity to develop ML models for Samsung, and engaged in industry research with Tempur Sealy and Hyundai.
Omar is fascinated by aerospace vehicles and machines, and in his free time, he builds and launches high-power rockets alongside the Columbia Space Initiative Rocketry team. He is actively engaged in building propulsion systems, and is currently part of a team developing a LOX regeneratively-cooled hybrid rocket engine. When he’s not building things, Omar can usually be found watching a sci-fi movie or hiking outdoors.
